Independence of day in Argentina was declared on July 9, 1816 by the Congress of Tucuman.
History behind Independence day in Argentina:
After 6 years of the creation of Argentine government on the 25th of May, in the year 1810, the delegates from the United Provinces of South America declared themselves independent from Spain.
All the delegates gathered themselves at a family home in Tucuman. The home remains and has been turned in the form of a museum which is known as the Casa Historic de la Independencia.
When the European explorers arrived in the region in the early part of the sixteenth century, Spain then established permanent colony on the site of modern day Buenos Aries in 1580.
In the earlier history, Argentina was the country of Spanish immigrants and their descendants (called as ceoles). The population was broken between those who resided in the Buenos Aries and the other cities, others living on the pampas as gauchos.
All the descendants of African slaves were also present in significant numbers. The indigenous people of the region inhabited much of the other parts of Argentina.
In the year 1806 and the year 1807, British Empire released 8 invasions of Buenos Aries, but where repelled on both occasions by the ceole population.
In the year 1810, on 28th of May, when the rumors about the overthrow of the King Ferdinand VII by Napolean proved to be true, all the citizens of Buenos Aries taken the advantage of situation and created their First Government Junta.
The defeat of the Napolean at the Waterloo in the year 1816 then led to the opportunity for the province to join and declare the independence.
Celebration of Independence day in Argentina:
Though there had been many kinds of changes to the form of government, lands included in the original and even in the civil war since the events of July 1816, the date 9th of July was the day to mark Argentina’s independence. This day is celebrated by the patriotic events like various speeches, parades and also the military demonstrations and is a popular time for the family reunions.
