4G is the technical term which is widely used in mobile communication or mobile phones. 4s is stands for fourth generation standards. It is a successor of the 3G (stands for third generation) standard. In simple word it is replacement of 3G. 4G standard provides mobile – ultra broadband internet access for example to smart phones, to laptop with wireless modem & many other mobile devices.
4G has faster internet access in comparison of other generation & it also wrapped the all drawbacks of previous generation standards. Firstly, 4G was launched in March, 2008 for international mobile telecommunication advanced (IMT- advanced) by the international telecommunication union – radio communication sector (ITU-R) & its setting top speed requirement for 4G services at 100 MB per second for high mobility communication & 1GB per second for small mobility communication. It is suitable for high resolution movies & television.
4G is anytime, anywhere connection which is also known as ‘mobile broadband everywhere’. Its hide its key feature in word “MAGIC” such as Mobile multimedia connection, Anywhere, anytime with anyone, Global mobility support, Integrated wireless solution & Customized personnel services. This property supports 4G to have 2000 time faster than mobile data rates, 10 times faster than 3G broadband mobile & 10 to 20 times faster than standard ADSL services.
There are many companies such as cellular phone companies (Alcatel, Nortel, Motorola etc.) & IT companies (Hughes, HP, LG etc.) are developing 4G technology. The key technology behind 4G is WIMAX (stands for worldwide interoperability for microwave access), OFDM, UWB (ultra wide band), smart antennas & IPv6. The WIMAX is based on OFDMA (orthogonal frequency division multiple access). The WINMAX has IEEE802.16a & IEEE802.20 standards. Now in these days 4G is widely used in many applications all around us such as in traffic control, location application, in crisis management applications & many other applications.
