India’s second largest software company Infosys is going to search for their fifth-Chief Executive Officer (CEO), they decided that new chief must be from IT sector. The company is specialized in IT so they don’t want take risk of taking CEO from outside their industrial field. According to company decision the new CEO is may be from engineering or sales but from IT sector only. Executive search firm Egon Zehnder will present their nominated list of 10 candidates in the middle of May. It will be shortlisted to three or four candidates. Company’s present CEO SD Shibulal has steeping down earlier than his retirement in March 2015; Infosys has made their decision for the replacement of CEO up to January 9.
Infosys president UB Pravin Rao and BG Shrinivas are front runners for this position and Phaneesh Murthy, the former sales head at Infosys and former CEO of iGate is also on the way. From the outside Francisco D’Souza, the CEO of Nasdaq-listed Cognizant, Salil Parekh CEO of Capgemini in application services for the UK, North America and Asia, and Shanker Annaswamy, former IBM India MD are may be better.
Professor Anil Gupta, who teaches strategy at University of Maryland, has said that “Board need to focus on hires a great CEO. After that, the market will look to the new CEO’s actions and the company’s performance”.
